DEEP CREEK YACHT RACING
ASSOCIATION
Spring 2011
Sailors and
Friends of Sailing,
DCYRA is pleased to announce the 2011 race program. Please check the Racing Schedule for your duty
assignments, if unable to serve please make every effort to find a qualified
substitute. To
optimize balance of experience on the RC boat ALL REQUESTS FOR CHANGES TO THE
PRO OR ASSISTANT PRO SCHEDULE MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DCYRA RACE COMMANDER, BRUCE
SPINNENWEBER. Notify Patrol Coordinator Barbara
Meredith of any changes to the patrol schedule. A Race Committee Seminar is
scheduled the weekend before Memorial Day. It is suggested that all racers,
whether scheduled for Race Committee duty or not, attend the seminar.
IMPORTANT CHANGES FOR 2011
The Wednesday Night, Junior Laser,
and OPTI races will be a part of the DCYRA program.
The Starting Line will be closed (in
both directions) during all races.
The DCYRA Race Commander, Bruce
Spinnenweber or his designate, will be available to make suggestions
or issue instructions to the Race Committee.
Suggested that for safety concerns
all boats carry a VHF radio turned on during a race, racers are not allowed to
transmit unless the call is for help (see 2011 Racing Instructions)
DCYRA strongly encourages joining your national class organization in addition to U.S. Sailing. The Flying Scot Sailing Association for Flying Scots (www.fssa.com) and The International Laser Class Organization for Lasers (www.laser.com).
Looking forward to a GREAT summer of sailing
Ray Miller
President, DCYRA
